Titan Astral Journey

We are a Fitzroy game studio building a competitive, physics-driven space-strategy engine — one where every fleet order resolves on a deterministic simulation, ranked seasons reset every eight weeks, and the leaderboard is earned, never bought.

The Studio

A decade tuning one simulation

Titan Astral Journey began in a shared workspace two blocks from Fitzroy's Brunswick Street. We have shipped one game, continuously, since 2016 — refusing the sequel treadmill in favour of a single deterministic engine that improves every season.

Our team of twenty-two engineers, designers, and competitive analysts operates from a converted warehouse studio in inner-north Melbourne. We playtest with local university esports clubs, publish full patch notes before every ladder reset, and treat competitive integrity as an engineering requirement rather than a marketing line.

  1. 2016

    Studio founded in Fitzroy

Four engineers commit to a single deterministic space-strategy engine, running the first closed sim from a Nicholson Street office.

  2. 2018

    First ranked season

Season 1 launches with 1,200 pilots and an eight-week reset cadence that still defines every competitive campaign today.

  3. 2021

    Regional server cluster

Dedicated Sydney and Perth simulation nodes cut cross-continent latency below 40ms for Australian and NZ players.

  4. 2024

    Studio-grade toolkit

We open our replay-analysis and fleet-scripting tools to licensed teams, turning private tooling into a supported platform.

Systems

What runs under the hull

Every system below ships in the live client. Expand each to see how it behaves in a ranked match.

Every fleet engagement resolves on a lockstep deterministic core, so a replay on your machine produces the identical outcome on ours. This is what makes ranked results auditable and disputes resolvable frame by frame.

Ladders reset every eight weeks with fresh placement matches, region-locked queues, and a transparent MMR that we publish in full. Season archives stay browsable so pilots can track their trajectory across years.

Scrub any match, branch alternate timelines, and export fleet-order timelines to CSV. Licensed teams get scripting hooks to batch-analyse hundreds of replays for opening-theory research.

Simulation nodes in Sydney, Perth, and Auckland keep round-trip times under 40ms for the ANZ region. Matchmaking prefers your nearest node before ever widening the search.

Behavioural models flag win-trading and boosting patterns for human review by our two-person integrity team. Every enforcement action ships with an appealable evidence packet.

Pilots

From the people on the ladder

I climbed from Bronze to Diadem in two seasons using nothing but the replay tool. Being able to branch a lost engagement and see exactly where my flank collapsed changed how I play.

Our university club runs scrims every Thursday and the deterministic replays settle every argument instantly. No more 'the netcode robbed me' — the sim is the same for everyone.

The Perth node dropping latency under 40ms was the moment competitive play became viable for us over here. It feels like the studio actually plays on Australian internet.
